I have been on a trip to South Dakota before. I was twelve or thirteen and my dad was convinced that when we moved from Indiana to Colorado that the best thing for us was to see the West. I think after several days in the car with me and my sister he and my mother were tired of road trips. I don't blame them. We argued like crazy and I was thirteen and very angsty. In all my angst, I'd forgotten that South Dakota is really, really majestic. The sky looks so big that I imagine I can see the curve of the earth. After the lush green of the Midwest the prairie is breathtaking. It was cool to see Doug's reaction when he saw the Badlands for the first time. We drove through part of the park to get to our campground and he was really amazed.
I'm pretty amazed too.
